How often do I need to get my teeth cleaned?
This is an excellent question and the answer varies from person to person. There are several factors that our dentists will take into account before they can determine how often you need dental cleanings. Typically, we recommend you get a cleaning every 6 months. We have found that biannual cleanings help prevent more serious dental issues in the future. But, the more susceptible your teeth are to decay or gum disease, the more frequent we recommend cleanings and dental examinations.
What will happen at my first visit to Metairie Dental Centre?
At your first visit, we will review your medical and dental history and spend some time getting to know you and understanding your dental goals. Depending on your needs, we may take any needed X-rays (usually a full mouth series.) Then, we will perform a thorough dental exam. Depending on time available and the condition of your teeth and gums, we may clean your teeth that day or we may ask that you schedule another visit. Because you are a new patient and we are unaware of your dental history and current dental needs, we cannot give an accurate time estimate for your first dental cleaning.
